Another Web Authoring Application

Do you remember NVU?  Some of you might.  Well, it’s gone.  Don’t be fulled by the sites that are out there.  See this posting (http://kazhack.org/?post/2009/11/03/Beware-of-scam-sites).  In NVU’s place sprang out KompoZer.
KompoZer, for those of you who don’t know, is an open-source web authoring application that runs on all three platforms.  Its features in a nutshell are:
  • WYSIWYG editing of pages
  • Reliable HTML code creation that conforms to the current standards
  • Integrated file management via FTP
  • Tabbed editing
  • Powerful support for forms, tables, and templates
So, who is KompoZer for?  If you’re a WYSIWYG person, KompoZer is for you!  It’s also a good choice for creating pages with reliable code that conforms to the latest standards.  The good news about KompoZer is that it is actively being developed (again).  Feel free to make your donation, so it stays that way. Enjoy!

How to install Aptana 2.xx on Ubuntu 9.10

In a previous post I created a screen-cast on how to install Aptana Studio 1.2.x on Ubuntu 9.04.  Well, I decided to do an updated version of this screen-cast to show you how to install the latest version of Aptana on the latest version of Ubuntu.  The instructions should also work for Ubuntu 8.04 and above.  Enjoy!

Aptana Studio 1.5.1 Released

In my previous post I demonstrated how to install Aptana Studio.  At that time the latest version was 1.2.7.  Well, a new version of Aptana Studio has been released which is now 1.5.1.

To install Aptana on Ubuntu, you now only have to have the latest Java Runtime from Sun Microsystems which is Java 6.  So, just download the latest package, unzip it and run the AptanaStudio file in the ‘Aptana Studio 1.5′ folder; that’s it!  The official icon is also included in the same folder so you can create a menu item for it (follow the last step in my video).
